Situated in beautiful natural surroundings, yet not far from the attractions, the pitches offer an unforgettable place to switch off and live for a while. By the way, they are reserved for drivers of RVs: Neither caravans nor tents are allowed when renting a site in Stockholm.

Langholmens Husbilscamping

The Palsundskanalen canal babbles not far from the campsite, which opens its doors from May to mid-September. Langholmens Husbilscamping is half an hour from the Djurgadsfärjan pier. This takes travellers to the famous Vasa Museum, the Skansen open-air museum, the Vasa Museum or the extensive Gröna Lund amusement park. Those who want to cool off and splash around can do so on the shores of Malären. Söder Malärstrand is within walking distance of the beach.

Tantolundens Husbilscamping

Tantolundens Hisbilscamping welcomes you in the south-west of Södermalm, a district of Stockholm. It is only about 600 metres to Zinkensdamm metro station. Guests will also find the old town of Gamla Stan within walking distance. The campsite is open all year round. You can book by phone. After receiving the code, you enter the campsite through a barrier.

There is no uniform climate in Sweden that applies nationwide. In the south, you can expect a moderate climate with mild summers and cool winters. Lapland, the north of Sweden, has a polar climate with extremely low temperatures down to -40 degrees Celsius. Unique activities can be enjoyed in these snow masses, which is why Sweden is also worth a trip in winter. In Abisko National Park, around 200km north of the Arctic Circle, you will discover hiking trails that are still covered in snow even at the beginning of June.

Do you prefer action? Take your family on an exciting sleigh ride with trained huskies pulling you through the snowy winter landscape of Lapland. At this time of year, from around September to March, one of the greatest natural phenomena on earth also appears in the skies above Sweden. The best time to travel in RV is between May and October. Camping enthusiasts can expect pleasant temperatures in Stockholm at this time, as well as many hours of sunshine, especially in the summer months. There is little rainfall in May. Furthermore, spring begins in May, bathing the whole country in postcard-worthy hues and tones.

Continue in your RV through the vast forest and lake landscapes of Värmland before stopping at Karlstad on the northern shore of Lake Vänern. Take a break at the lake district of Dalsland and drive through Bengtsfors to reach Vänersborg.

At your next destination, Bohuslän, you will experience archipelagos with your own eyes. The rugged, flat rocky islands of Orust and Tjörn, so-called archipelagos, are off the coast and invite you to relax with beaches. Later, the journey continues to Gothenburg, the country's second largest metropolis. If you rent RV in Stockholm, why not drive to Gothenburg? On the river Göta älv on the western coast of the country, the city is famous for its wide, green avenues, such as Kungsportsavenyn. This is the city's largest shopping street, with many cafés and shops. Families spend the afternoon at Liseberg amusement park, enjoying rides, a sculpture garden and performances.

When you rent RV in Stockholm, there are a few things that will interest you: In Sweden, distances are often given in Swedish miles. One Swedish mile (mil) is about 10km. Furthermore, there is a permissible alcohol limit of 0.2 per mille - this can be reached after just one beer.

Also good to know for anyone renting RV: Almost nothing works on site without a credit card. Alongside the rather unpopular cash, it is the main means of payment in Sweden. A credit card is often required, for example at one of the many modern RV sites that operate without staff. Make sure that your card is activated for Scandinavia.

The best news comes at the end, as usual: There are no tolls throughout the country. Even the Södra-Länken tunnel, which you may come across on your trip with the RV in Stockholm, can be used free of charge, as can all roads. But beware: the Öresund Bridge and the bridges in Sundsvall and Motala, for example, are subject to tolls when travelling by Campervan.

RV travellers in Stockholm beware: Everyman's right is enshrined in law and allows every visitor and resident to camp completely freely. When wild camping, simply set up camp in the middle of nature, for example by a wide meadow or an idyllic lake. Free camping is not permitted in cultivated fields and car parks.

Thanks to the Everyman's Right, all travellers to Sweden who rent a caravan can save themselves the usually expensive fees for campsites, provided they are self-sufficient. However, anyone travelling to Stockholm in a camper van must bear the following in mind: In order not to damage nature, vehicles may only stay overnight outside of advertised camps at a rest area or on the side of the road. This applies for a maximum of 24 hours.

Deep forests, vast landscapes and picturesque lakes: Sweden is the optimal destination for people planning to travel to Stockholm with their four-legged friend. It is mandatory that the pet is registered at customs and vaccinated against rabies. At least 21 days must have passed between the rabies vaccination and entry into Stockholm.
