The historic old town with its luxuriously decorated town houses amazes visitors. A walk through the city centre reveals a multitude of different buildings and monuments. A special highlight is the tower that towers over the centre.

The entire city centre of Rottweil is a sight to behold. The tower is one of the city's biggest attractions. The hiking trails in the surrounding area offer plenty of variety and great views.
This huge observation tower was built as a test tower for express lifts by the Thyssenkrupp company. Construction took just under four years and was completed in 2017. The test shaft is 275 metres long.
Since its construction, the tower has received numerous architecture and design awards, as it is unique in its construction. Among other things, it is the only tower that can be artificially vibrated to simulate wind loads.
Another feature is the textile cladding. Visually, the tower is reminiscent of a huge screw. A public visitor's platform was created so that the residents could become familiar with the eye-catching project.
In this way, the company created an incentive to visit Rottweil. A separate infrastructure was created for the visitors. The campervan can therefore be parked directly on one of the tower's parking spaces.
The 125-square-metre platform can accommodate 200 visitors at a time. In good weather conditions, the view reaches as far as the Swiss Alps. With binoculars, a view of over 200 km is possible.
