The Thyrrhenian coast is not far from the city. The secluded bays and beaches invite you to swim. But you can also go diving, surfing or sailing.
The nearby mountains offer a change from beach holidays. The canyons and valleys are excellent for hiking. The panorama of the surrounding countryside and the sea is unique. There are three national parks in the immediate vicinity of the city.

The thermal baths are said to be well over 2000 years old. The healing spring enhances well-being and health. It is located in the Sambiase district. This part is directly in the nature reserve Difesa Mitoio Caronte.
The thermal water bubbles directly out of the earth at a temperature of 39 degrees Celsius. The water is particularly good for rheumatism. But it can also cure respiratory diseases and skin problems.
This old castle is enthroned on the top of a mountain. The excursion is worthwhile for the great view alone. The gate to the castle is sometimes locked, but you can usually visit it.
Nearby is a beautiful place to take photos. The oldest parts date back to the time of the Greeks. The complex was badly destroyed by earthquakes in the 17th century.
For all nature lovers, a day trip with the campervan to the Parco Nazionale della Sila is worthwhile. This vast national park is a real hiker's paradise. On the way you can watch deer and birds.
The native wolves, however, are rarely seen. The highest mountain in the region is Monte Botto Donato. The roads through the park are also excellent for cycling.

By plane: The airport is only a few kilometres from the city. However, it is not huge. Not all international airlines fly to it. From the airport you can take a bus or a taxi into town.
