Naturist Camping: A special experience
Naturism stands for tolerance. Nudity brings down togetherness to a natural common denominator. When naked we are all the same and see our bodies without filters. Our mind connects naturism with naturalness, community, harmony and last but not least: Freedom.
Naturism in France
One of the most progressive countries in terms of nudism is Germany. Their french neighbours, nevertheless, are also fans of feeling a breeze of fresh air on their naked skin. Naturism, for that matter, has enjoyed great popularity in France since the 1920s.
It got so popular that in the first nudist centre on European soil opened in the 1950s in Gironde, in southern France. It didn’t take long until the FFN (Fédération Franҫaise de Naturisme) designated a big number of beaches, campsites and even villages for naturism.
In the turn of the millennium, a nudist licence was still required at these places. Today you only need to inform yourself about the necessity of a license as a unaccompanied single.
The best naturist campsites
We would like to introduce you to some of the most beautiful naturist campsites in France under the sun:
Naturist camping Aimée Porcher – Pingrieux in the municipality of Eyburie
The Limousin region, and above all Corrèze, is famous for its beautiful landscapes, forests, clear rivers and good cuisine. This campsite is surrounded by nature. The smell of freshly cutted grass, the evenings around the campfire and the endless hours underneath the hot sun is all you need to reach pure happiness.
The small camping site covering almost 60 plots is situated directly on the river, with its own swimming pool, fresh fruit and vegetables as well as clean, well-equipped sanitary facilities. Families with children are going to have a blast here!
Camping Naturiste Euronat – Grayan-et-l’hôpital on the south-western Atlantic coast
The peninsula Medoc is located directly above Bordeaux, which is since 2007 listed as an UNESCO world heritage.
Medoc itself stands for pure nature and excellent wine. Being located directly at the sea, in the middle of a huge pine forest, this village seduces with its white sandy beach surrounded by dunes. Furthermore an indoor swimming pool with slides and solarium, an outdoor pool, paddling pool and even a 31 degree warm sea water pool for thalassotherapy are available. Have you ever attended a pottery course naked? Here you can do archery, horse riding and Qigong.
The campsite in this naturist village has 4 stars and offers activities for every taste.
Camping La Sesquière – Départment Tarn in the Southwest
Throw a glance at the gentle hilly landscape and you will be able to tell that the region has long been used for agriculture. Sunflowers and still grown and wine still produced here. The small villages are preserved and invite you for a stroll. Hikers, cyclists and culture enthusiasts also get their money’s worth in this region.
The small campsite has been home to naturists from all over the world since 1986. It is situated – naturally embedded – in a small valley and offers a varied backdrop. Open fields and small woods invite you to relax. What is special about this family-run campsite is that even single travellers are welcome here. Unfortunately, this is not the norm on naturist campsites.
Village La Chiappa – Porto Vecchio at the southern tip of Corsica
Wild, fragrant nature, hidden bays, fine sandy beaches and small forests. The nature on the island of Corsica is incredibly varied, while at the same time retaining much of its original character. The nearest surroundings with their crystal clear rivers and natural waterfalls are ideal for hiking, climbing or canyoning.
In this naturist village you are in the middle of nature, but you do not miss a thing! There are plenty of activities offered for everyone, from yoga to windsurfing, from sailing to basketball.
Furthermore there is a beach bar, a restaurant, a bistro, shopping facilities and much more. Pitches are very quiet, under trees or directly in front of the water. The village also offers various bungalows for rent.
Camping naturiste La Combe De Ferrière – National Park in the Cevennes
The national park lies in the south, in the region Occitania. The Cevennes are well known for their mountains and valleys, forests and rivers. The landscape here is rather mountainous, so you can meet orchids as well as tulips, mouflons and ibexes. This camping paradise might be small, but hidden in an idyllic landscape it will leave you stunned. Some visitors comment that it feels like camping with friends in the garden.
The two owners Jur and Lisa give you a good feeling and make you feel welcome. If you find the 40 hectare campsite with pool and sauna too cramped, you can go hiking or canoeing in the surroundings.
Sun, culture and naturism
If you like nudism when camping, you should definitely visit at least once in your life France. People in naturist villages are friendly and welcoming. Of course, the mild climate gives an additional plus.
Somehow it seems logical that naturism could become so popular here. Sun, culture, great food, beautiful nature and beaches. One already enjoys “life like a God” in France.
