1. Use a water bottle to hold eggs
Packing eggs for a camping trip can be tricky, you have to treat them nicely, otherwise they might break and cause a big mess. To avoid this extra effort of being careful, having to remember to put them always on top of stuff and all that hassle, just break them into a large water bottle that will hold the mix of up to 8 eggs, depending on its size. It will even help you getting them mixed and ready to prepare a delicious omelette for breakfast!
2. For any emergency, wrap duct-tape around your water bottle
Having duct-tape while camping is a must. You never know when it will come in handy. So in order to save up some space in your backpack, just wrap some tape around your water bottle for emergencies, and that way you won’t have to carry the whole thing.
3. Corn chips to start your campfire!
Tortilla chips and Cheetos are flammable, so they’re actually super helpful when it comes to starting your bonfire. They also make a great snack or you could turn them into a delicious camping meal. Find some other recipe ideas in our blog CampstarTrends.
4. Sage to keep mosquitoes away
One of the biggest struggles when camping is the battle against the annoying mosquitoes. Sage is great to repel them, for some reason they’re not fans of its smell at all, so throwing some sage leaves to your campfire will help keep the bloodsuckers away.
5. Keep bugs off food with shower caps
I think we’re making it obvious that insects, here in Campstar, are not our cup of tea. Especially when they are all around our food, so we find this hack super useful not only for camping, but for any activity that involves eating outdoors, like picnics or beach trips. Cover your food plates with shower caps to avoid having flies, ants or any type of bug running around your meals. The size, shape and elastic band of shower caps make them perfect for covering your food and blocking the entry of any unwanted tiny enemy.
6. Pack rain ponchos just in case
We all know that weather can be very unpredictable, especially during the rainy season. One minute the sun is shining, the next it’s a tropical storm grade 2. Rain ponchos are great to not get wet while still having complete mobility and freedom over your body to continue your activities, for example when you need to finish packing up the car to go home and cannot hold an umbrella and the bags at the same time.
7. Use deodorant to combat itchiness
Back to our unwanted camping pals, bugs. When you are out in nature, is very common to encounter all kinds of insects, and there is a big chance that by the end of your trip you will have at least one bug bite, were you really camping otherwise? To combat the itchiness that some of these bites cause, you can apply deodorant on the itchy spot and you will see how almost immediately the irritation decreases.
8. Make a pillow with a pillowcase and clothes
This cool camping hack is excellent for when you have limited packing capacity, which is pretty much all the time when camping. Instead of bringing your spacious pillow, just make one with some clothes and a pillow case, which, by the way, you can also use as an extra bag.
9. Make mini soap bars with a vegetable peeler
Whoever says they haven’t struggled with a saggy, messy soap bar when they are on the road, are probably lying. We’ve all been down that road, but this ends today! Using a vegetable peeler to make tiny soap bars for one-time-use saves money, space and a huge mess.
10. Dry your shoes faster with newspaper
Putting your feet inside wet shoes is the worst! Unfortunately, is one of the risks you encounter when doing some outdoor activities while camping, like hiking near water streams or when it rains out of the sudden. This camping hacks will save your feet from wet, cold shoes and most probably a flu too. Just stuff the newspaper inside your shoes overnight and it will absorb the humidity. Easy like that, dry shoes and happy feet.
